TCA Panels…
I’m just going to ramble a little bit so bare with me.
SCANDAL (ABC) -
I am happy that in season 1 we were asking “what” and in season 2 we are going to be asking “why”! Can we just take a minute to appreciate Guillermo Diaz acting? He was awesome as Guillermo on weeds but this show gives him so much more depth and he’s ace on it! I want them to get picked up, they need to give them more than 13 episodes!
GREY’S ANATOMY (ABC) -
To be fair, my mother and sister love this show sooooo yeah I’ve been sucked into it over the years and they’re doing something really awesome this season. They’re starting the first episode which takes place 2-3 months after the finale incident. Then the 2nd episode jumps back to right where they left off with the finale last season. I wish Dexter did this, because it would have been so fun (well maybe for the story tellers, not really so much for the fans). I am not really all that thrilled to see what happens now that Sloane is leaving but who knows.. I did like what Shonda said, “This isn’t lost!” JAJAJA! The fact they aren’t doing “Funerals” this season, I’m not sure how that translates. I don’t know how they’re going to translate what happened to Mark with Arizona and Callie but I think for any GA fan it’s going to be a hard transition.
TREME (HBO) -
Lets talk about this 3rd season! I for one am very excited for this to be returning. I got to live in Louisiana for the last 3 years and this story is so accurate and relevant. I admit, it’s a little slow and can be boring but I was a huge fan of “The Wire” and was excited when I heard the creator was doing “Treme” and I am not disappointed! I don’t know many people who watch this but it’s important, to understand and be opened to how the effects of Katrina had on the state of Louisiana and New Orleans. I was so scared they were going to cancel the show but here we go!!! Season 3 y’all!
HULU ANNOUNCEMENT (INTERNET) -
First, who do they think they are “Wigs”? This is a been there - done that type of thing, and honestly there is no way Hulu is going to compete with YouTube’s original channel “Wigs”, nor should they even try. Hulu sucks, the service sucks and when they say “Nobody is going to dislike this series. They’ll either like it or they won’t care about it” Gee what a way to sell your sloppy new innovative content, sir.
COMMUNITY (NBC) -
It was nice to hear them say that without Dan Harmon the fans are going to get the same show. I personally am sick of hearing the great divide of the show, their showrunners and that the show is going to suffer. Can we just trust that the showrunners, writers and actors are going to bring it hard and give the fans the same great show we all loved? I’m all for freshening a show, and the drama that unfolded around it was unnecessary and only puts a bad taste in fans mouths. I think if they get out of their awkward phase they’ll be able to take over ratings again and be back on a good night! Thursdays just weren’t for them. I get that you’ll hear a lot of people say “oh they can’t compete with TBBT” well, maybe you’re right. Obviously ratings don’t lie, but there is no reason they wouldn’t own a tuesday or wednesday timeslot. Think about it, Supernatural was shuffled to Fridays, they came back strong and are now being moved to Wednesdays. I have faith in the show and the writers and just really love Community..
ANIMAL PRACTICE (NBC) -
This show looks so awesome, like the office but better jajaja! I loved Crystal (the monkey) in the hangover II and Community! Justin Kirk back on my tv in something other than weeds will be so odd but so good! Actually, thinking about it - both Justin Kirk and Elizabeth Perkins are going to be on my tv soon! oh my god I can’t wait. Their panel wasn’t that hyped but I’m really looking forward to it and I hope enough people love it so that they get to stay on the air.
REVOLUTION (NBC) -
Can we start out by saying the irony with this… This is a show based on a theory that has been deemed plausible by physicists. Now, to really throw a wrench in the bucket. It’s a scientific show, created by Eric Kripke. One of the scientists on The Big Bang Theory is named Kripke. SO AWESOME. Anyway, I’m a science nerd, a physics nerd so this show is really interesting to me. The possibility that this is a real thing that could happen and what IF the US lost all power? I mean, they’re treating the audience like they have a brain (which most shows don’t even try to do anymore) so it’s refreshing and I’m really looking forward to it. Plus they said they aren’t going for an endless mystery story. THANK GOD. YAY SCIENCE.
ANGER MANAGEMENT (FX) -
I think it’s flippin hilarious how good this show is doing, further proving that Charlie Sheen is a goddamn genius when it comes to publicity. I’ve watched this since it aired and it’s so much better than Two and a half men. It’s like, Charlie grew up! I am glad to see Bruce Helford as the showrunner and seeing that he gives Charlie Sheen some creative input makes the set a more pleasant place (at least that’s how it seems). They’re brilliant, what new show already has syndication deals for 2014? AMAZING. Good to see Martin Sheen has a recurring role! (loved him on West Wing!) I would love to see Denise Richards on there more too! Kudos to both of them for working it out and coming together for good TV!
LOUIE (FX) -
On the 3rd Season seeing the guest stars is so cool. Melissa Leo nailed it! The great thing about Louie is that he pushes the boundaries without going too far - it’s like made for tv Ted :D John Landgraf’s not your typical network president though. If you’ve ever hear him slam Ryan Murphy and other’s he just doesn’t give a crap and it’s great if you’re Kurt Sutter, Louis CK or Charlie Sheen (all on this network). Also let’s remember that Nip/Tuck used to be an FX series and holy crap that show pushed all the boundaries! One of the greatest grossest shows I’ve ever seen jajaja. I have to say when Louis CK said he watches Breaking Bad, and Sons of Anarchy, I almost died! Then he said he watches Project Runway and that about sent me over the edge. He said he also likes American Idol and cries like a baby during Deal or No Deal. SHUT UP jajaja. Congratulations to Louie for being renewed for a 4th Season! I can’t wait to see what else in store for his show.
SONS OF ANARCHY (FX) -
Best news of the week is hearing that SoA has been renewed through 6 seasons! Unfortunately they think it may end at 7 seasons. I loved his comment “I’d have to really fuck things up not to get seven seasons” I love this guy! He was great at SDCC. if they ever did a prequel piece in a period setting I’d shit my pants. I’ve heard end game so much today and I don’t want to hear it anymore jajaja.
WEEDS (SHO) -
One of the best (and bittersweet) panels today. Weeds took the stage for their final TCA and from what I heard it was sad :( Weeds is currently filming their finale this week which airs on September 16th in a two part episode. I’m actually really unsure what to expect. They said “There is no happily ever after” which could mean that Andy and Nancy don’t end up together, especially after the crap hand bombshell that Jill dropped in Sunday night’s episode. I was so happy to hear that Jenji is developing an NBC series with Stephen Falk about a workplace comedy (hellloooo cast Mary Louise Parker) otherwise HBO is going to steal her and cast her in Newsroom (at least that’s what they should do!) I’m really sad that we aren’t going to see Elizabeth Perkins in the Finale (She confirmed this over the weekend at her new shows panel) I think there is some dirty damage that was done there and it’s really messed up. For the sake of the show and the characters people can’t put differences aside and create a great story. I’m excited to see how the rest of the season plays out and it’s going to be one of the worst series finals i’ve ever sat through. I think this is one of the first Finale’s I’ve ever watched live since the beginning. I remember seeing the pilot and ever since I’ve been a fan so to see it unravel over the years its gonna be hard for me.
DEXTER (SHO) -
All I can say is that every single critic asked a stupid question. I think this is the one panel that attracts idiots. There’s not much I can say because it’ll be too much. This should be their best season yet, and lets just take a minute to credit the executives for their decision to go back early to write, for their writers for staying fresh and for their overall production to kick it into high gear. If not for them, people wouldn’t be excited and this show would be falling apart so good job on everyones behalf to keep it fresh, innovative and FUCKING BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN AND PRODUCED. seriously. It’s insane. Funny tidbit, a stupid critic saying that Dexter is the first Antihero and Michael saying “uhmm what about the Sopranos?” YES YES YES!!! Edie Falco was epic on that show in case you people don’t watch it. Also, the critic who asked Michael “what if you were a professional blogger” and his reply was “What”….yes exactly, you people ask dumb fucking questions. ASK ABOUT THE SHOW! But at least nobody asked him how he relates to Dexter. it was like comic-con all over again except worse because these people are alleged professionals.
HOMELAND (SHO) -
Homeland I think was too candid in their panel, I would even say SPOILERS! because they said too much. I’m glad that there isn’t going to be a pregnancy written into the story. Brody being at heightened anxiety through most of the season is not something I’m looking forward to seeing. Damien Lewis absolutely owns those scenes, he has a way about him where you cannot tell what he’s about to do and that keeps me from breathing during certain scenes but I am so excited. Saul bringing Carrie back and AHHHHH! I don’t know what’s been released from Showtime so I don’t want to say anything because I think the panel revealed too much and some of my followers may not have heard some of it soo yeah. AHHHHH! HOMELAND!
THE BIG C (SHO) -
This is their last season, 4 episodes, each an hour long. I’m really worried about how this is going to end, they said “What if she doesn’t die”, “what if she does” and I really can’t think about it to be honest. I’m said it’s ending but thinking about it, what choice did they have? You can’t keep making her sick, and making her better - because when she was better the story got weaker, it’s just going to be hard watching this show come to an end but I think Darlene is going to do it the right way.
I just love television, I know that Matthew Perrys show had a panel and so did Elizabeth perkins, so I hope to find those soon. I loved David Nevins saying that Episodes will most likely be renewed for another season and that Californication has a lot to offer next season too. I’m looking forward to all of the great fall TV and saying goodbye to some really great shows. Boardwalk Empire got their premier date, so did Treme! I think Clyde Phillips is going to transform Nurse Jackie into something even bigger and better. SOOOo MUUUCHHH GOOOOOOD TTTVVVV!!!
